King George is a majestic structure of wide halls, high ceilings and hardwood floors which officially opened with the start of the 1913 school term. The historical character of the school has been lovingly maintained as we implement new curricula and adopt the latest computer technology. King George sits high on Armour Hill overlooking the city. Our gymnasium is used for a variety of arts and athletic activities. We are able to walk to the Peterborough Hydraulic Lift Lock, Centennial Museum, Beavermead Park and Ecology Garden, and the Trent Canal. The pupils of King George School come from a large area. At the centre of this is the Ashburnham Ward, rich in history and sense of community. Our school boundaries also include the Beavermead subdivision and the Willowcreek community. We also have rural students from Donwood, Otonabee and Douro Townships. King George has a strong sense of community pride and a feeling of safety where harassment and bullying are not tolerated. It is viewed as an outstanding school with involved parents, energetic and caring staff members and students who are mature, responsible, independent thinkers.
